What is Towrs?

  • Towrs is a project to catalog useful information and compelling photographs of cities, buildings, and architecture around the world.

What kind of information can I add to Towrs?

  • Anything about a nation, city, or building that visitors, tourists, architecture buffs, or the merely curious might find interesting. Whenever possible, please cite sources. Do not post information that is rumor or urban legend. If you "heard it from someone" then it's not fact, it's rumor. If you read or see it in the media, cite the publication/broadcaster and the date of publication/broadcast.

Are you only interested in skyscrapers?

  • NO! We are fans of all sorts of architecture, from 1950's diners to bridges to communications towers to skyscrapers. If it's interesting, we're interested. In spite of the web site name, we don't confine ourselves to skyscrapers.

Can I post a picture of my home?

  • If you like. You may wish to consider the privacy ramifications before you do so, but if you have a compelling house, we'd love to see it.

What kind of images can I upload?

  • Pictures of buildings and skylines. Interesting architectural details.
  • JPEGs are best. TIFFs and PNGs are OK. Try to keep all images smaller than 500 pixels wide. This is a courtesy for people on slower internet connections.
  • Due to copyright laws, you may only upload photographs THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN YOURSELF. Do not upload photographs from other web sites, unless you are the owner of that web site and grant us permission to display said photograph. It doesn't matter how pretty the picture is, if you don't own it and you upload it, you are in violation of federal law.

What kind of images may I not upload?

  • Images of artwork, sculptures, and things that are not buildings or skylines. Even though they may be displayed in a public place, even a city park, most sculptures are copyrighted by the artist that created them, and we are not allowed to show them on this web site. The exception would be works of art owned by the United States government such as the Saint Louis arch, the Statue of Liberty, or Mount Rushmore.

How many images can I upload?

If they're good, as many as you want. But try not to fill a whole page with images and no information. This is boring for some people, and slows down already slow internet connections. Don't feel compelled to send in every picture you took on vacation. Just pick out the interesting ones.
